Guitar Buyers Beware of False Prophets

When one is looking to buy a custom guitar, the first thing the person always looks for is style. We all want that perfect looking axe that seemed brought down from a 'stairway to heaven'. Of course the look is very important but one must be careful of fool's gold. Before purchasing, always ask what model was the guitar originally. Perhaps the seller tells you it is a Fender Strat. Well, there are many strat models and some of them are very cheap as in cheaply made. Make sure you know exactly which model your getting. If the seller implies it is a Gibson Les Paul, again beware. There are several poorly made Gibson copies. Go online and check for serial numbers. If it is a guitar maker you have never heard of, once more you can go online and find relevant information or, if possible, go to your local guitar shop and ask around. Find out exactly where the bare bones of that beauty came from or you may end up with a sheep in wolf's clothing.
